     The topic that I chose for the simulation is how social emotional development in young children that may have been abused and how these factors may effect a child's behavior at school. I choose this research topic because I  find it extremely interesting . I work with head start children. many of these children come from backgrounds that may not necessarily be ideal. As an educator I would like to find out some of the behaviors that are exhibited by children when they are abused and neglected . I think that information in a simulation will be very helpful for teachers so that they may identify some of the targeted behaviors and how to address them on a social emotional level.      According to the Child Welfare League of America, in Maryland alone, " In 2015, there were 6,790 victims of abuse or neglect in Maryland, a rate of 5.0 per 1,000 children, a a decrease 25.5% from 2014. One hope that I have about working with children and families from diverse backgrounds, is that I as an educator can be open-minded and inclusive of all children. I hope that I make every student and family feel welcome and a part of my classroom and environment. In addition I hope that I can take my own biases into consideration while not letting them hinder me from being inclusive of everyone. One goal that I would like to set for the field of early childhood education in regard to diversity, equality and social justice is to incorporate more aspects into curriculum that reflect a diverse population. I would like to see more things all curriculum that are geared toward people from a variety of ethnic groups and cultures. In addition, I would like to thank my colleagues for all of the insight that they have provided throughout this course. I enjoyed reading everyone's perspectives and personal anecdotes.
